Position Overview
The Extended Care Program Monitor works directly with groups of 20+ students in grades K-5. In this role, you will help design, coordinate, and deliver an Extended Care Program that provides a safe, fun, and caring environment acting as a seamless extension of the school day.
Schedule & Hours
This school-year position guarantees approximately 30 hours per week. Daily supervision shifts are structured as follows:
- Morning Recess: 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM
- Lunch Supervision: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
- Afternoon Recess: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
- After-School Program: 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Note: This position transitions to full-time hours during our week-long school break camps throughout the academic year (October, February, and April).
Key Responsibilities
- Active Supervision: Maintain a safe environment through vigilant supervision of children during both indoor and outdoor activities.
- Activity Planning: Collaborate with co-workers to plan and execute engaging, age-appropriate activities (sports, arts & crafts, team games).
- Community Communication: Maintain professional and positive communication with parents, school faculty, and administrative staff.
- Operations: Oversee daily program schedules, including student arrival, check-in, and dismissal/sign-out logistics.
- Behavior Support: Resolve student conflicts positively by implementing Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies.
- Space Stewardship: Manage the setup, teardown, and cleanup of program areas to ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment.
Qualifications:
- Enthusiastic, fast learner with a highly proactive work ethic.
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working with and developing activities for children ages 5-10 is preferred (but not required).
- Fluency in French is a plus, though not required.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
